Mumbai's blue-collar and support jobs sit in Bhiwandi's warehouses, the Thane–Belapur chemical and data-centre belt, the JNPA port area and the office districts. Each runs on long commutes and round-the-clock shifts, and the monsoon affects them all. Godstone Consultech recruits, onboards and pays contract and temporary staff for Mumbai employers, managed from our Chennai office, with Maharashtra compliance handled.
Share the area, roles and shift pattern. We come back with an itemised rate card and a realistic plan.
We do not have an office in Mumbai. We are a Chennai company, about two hours away by air, and we manage Mumbai work from our Guindy office. We recruit locally across the Mumbai region (Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan–Bhiwandi and the western suburbs), onboard at your site, appoint a coordinator for every team and visit on a schedule. Payroll, PF, ESI, Maharashtra professional tax and labour welfare fund are handled centrally.
We are a good fit for Mumbai clients who want steady teams, or planned peak-season teams, on monthly contracts with clean compliance records, and for companies already working with us in South India.
Mumbai's employment is spread across the whole region, and a worker's train line often decides which jobs they can take. Pick a belt to see the employers there, the roles in demand and the shift and commute issues to plan for.
Site in Vasai–Virar, Palghar or further along the coast? Tell us where, and we will be honest about coverage.
Mumbai's constraints are well known, but staffing plans often ignore them until attendance drops.
Heavy-rain days flood tracks and roads, and attendance collapses in low-lying areas. For critical operations we agree a monsoon roster in advance, with standby workers who live close to the site.
Housing costs push workers to Virar, Kalyan, Badlapur and Panvel. We source along the line that serves your site, and we avoid shift times that start before the first comfortable train.
Bhiwandi's festive and sale peaks need extra hands for a few weeks. We plan temporary teams ahead, induct them before the peak, and release them with full and final settlement paid on time.
Temporary teams that are onboarded properly, with PF and ESI enrolment, correct PT and LWF deductions, and a coordinator on site. Peak season is when shortcuts turn into compliance findings.
Mumbai follows Maharashtra's labour laws, and a few of them work differently from other States. These are the ones to check for contract and temporary staff.
| Rule | What applies in the Mumbai region | What we handle |
|---|---|---|
| Shop registration | Offices, shops and warehouses fall under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (RE&CS) Act 2017; registration is often still called a 'Gumasta' licence. Since the October 2025 amendment the main provisions apply from 20 workers (smaller establishments file an intimation), daily hours can go up to 10 within a 48-hour week, and overtime is capped at 144 hours a quarter. Establishments may generally open 24x7 if weekly rest is given. | We check the site's registration and roster hours, weekly offs and overtime within these limits. |
| Minimum wages | Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai are Zone I. Rates are set by scheduled employment, with a special allowance revised every January and July. For shops and establishments, Zone I unskilled work was about ₹14,150 a month from 1 July 2026. Warehouse, engineering and hotel schedules have their own rates. Mumbai's market wages are usually well above the minimum. | We cost to the notified minimum as a floor, and benchmark the offer against the local market for the role. |
| Professional tax | Monthly. Men: ₹175 for ₹7,501–₹10,000 and ₹200 above ₹10,000 (₹300 in February). Women: nil up to ₹25,000. Employers pay by the 15th of the following month from March 2026. | We deduct by gender and slab and pay on time under our PTRC. |
| Labour welfare fund | ₹25 from the employee and ₹75 from the employer, twice a year (June and December), paid by 15 July and 15 January. | We deduct and remit both instalments for every worker on our rolls. |
| Labour Codes | The four Labour Codes apply from 21 November 2025. Maharashtra's State rules were still in draft in September 2026. Contractor licensing under the OSH Code applies at 50 or more contract workers, and contract labour in core activities is restricted, with exceptions. | We confirm registration and licensing needs with you before deployment and track the final State rules. |

Mumbai requirements lean towards warehouse, facility and support roles, with specialised plant and data-centre work in Navi Mumbai.
| Role | Where the demand is | What we check before deployment |
|---|---|---|
| Pickers, packers & loaders | Bhiwandi, Taloja, Panvel | Scanner and pick-accuracy trial, lifting fitness, night-shift and transport fit |
| Forklift & reach-truck operators | Bhiwandi, JNPA CFS, Taloja | Licence verification, practical load and racking test |
| Data-centre facility staff | Airoli, Rabale, Mahape | Background verification, access-control and safety induction, shift discipline |
| Chemical & utility helpers | TTC MIDC, Taloja | Medical fitness, PPE and permit awareness, hazardous-process briefing |
| Front desk & receptionists | BKC, Lower Parel, Powai, Andheri | Communication test (English, Hindi, Marathi), grooming, visitor-system trial |
| Housekeeping & pantry | Offices, hospitals, hotels | Reference check, hygiene and chemical-handling briefing, site SOP walk-through |

What Mumbai operations, admin and HR teams ask us first.
Ask us about your Mumbai site →No. We manage Mumbai work from our Chennai office in Guindy. We recruit locally across the Mumbai region, onboard at your site, appoint a coordinator for every team and visit on a schedule. Payroll and compliance run centrally.
Yes, with notice. Tell us your peak calendar and volumes, and we plan sourcing and induction ahead of the peak, so the team is trained when the volume arrives. We release them afterwards with full settlement paid on time.
It is the common Mumbai name for registration under the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments Act. Since the October 2025 amendment, full registration applies from 20 workers, and smaller establishments file an intimation. Your site's registration should cover the contract workers deployed there.
The agreed wage, which is at least the Maharashtra Zone I minimum for the employment and in practice usually higher in Mumbai, plus employer PF (12% of PF wages up to the ₹25,000 ceiling from 17 September 2026), ESI at 3.25% where gross wages are ₹21,000 or less, bonus, leave and gratuity provisions, LWF, our service fee and 18% GST. We send an itemised rate card.
We agree a monsoon roster before June: critical positions, standby workers who live close to the site, and how we communicate closures. Workers are paid according to the agreed attendance and leave policy, and we do not make ad-hoc deductions.
Yes. One agreement with State-specific annexures, one payroll process, and a contact who knows Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra rules.
Send the area, roles, headcount and shift pattern. We will reply with an itemised rate card under Maharashtra's rules and a sourcing plan for your peak. Call +91 860 850 6800. Or write to info@godstoneconsultech.in.
